Crockpot Pepper Steak

Steak with peppers in the Chinese style… The famous bell pepper steak in your slow cooker

First Method:


  • 1 1/2 pound top sirloin in strips
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced 
  • ½ onion, sliced

For the sauce

  • ½ cup of divided water
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • pepper
  • 2 teaspoons of brown sugar


  1. Place beef strips, peppers, and onions in your slow cooker.
  2. In a small bowl, mix ¼ cup of boiling water with the beef bouillon cubes.
  3. In another bowl, combine ¼ cup cold water and cornstarch. Mix well then add soy sauce, ginger, garlic powder, pepper, and brown sugar.
  4. Add the hot beef broth.
  5. Pour the sauce into the slow cooker.
  6. Cover and cook at a low intensity for 5 hours. 
  7. Serve over white rice.

  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 3 lb sirloin steak, cut into strips
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 teaspoons of sugar
  • 3 green peppers, cut into strips
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup cold water

Steps of preparation

  1. Heat the oil in a frying pan and brown the steak pieces on all sides, adding the garlic during cooking. Transfer the steak and its juices to the slow cooker bowl. Add onion, soy sauce, salt, pepper, and sugar. Cover and cook on low (LOW) power for 6-8 hours, until the meat, is tender.
  2. One hour before the end of cooking time, add green peppers. A few minutes before the end of cooking, combine cornstarch with water and add to the slow cooker. Cook until the sauce thickens.
