Makes: 2 loaves of bread
- 1 cup of milk
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup butter
- 4 cups of bread flour
- 1/4 cup of sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 ½ teaspoon active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 2 tsp. sifted powdered sugar, divided
Steps of preparation
Place milk, eggs, 1/4 cup butter, bread flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in the bread maker in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select the dough cycle and start. When the dough cycle is complete, transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and pierce it with your fist to remove air. Let stand for 10 minutes.
In a bowl, mix the walnuts, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
Divide the dough in half and roll each piece into a 9 x 14-inch rectangle. Spread 1 tbsp. softened butter on each dough rectangle and sprinkle brown sugar mixture evenly over top. Roll the dough around the brown sugar mixture, starting with the small edges. Pinch dough to seal.
Grease two 5″ x 9″ bread pans. Place dough rolls, sealed side down, in pans. Cover and let rise until doubled in size, about 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Bake loaves until golden brown and sound hollow when tapped, about 30 minutes. If they brown too quickly, cover with aluminum foil. Let stand 10 minutes in pans before transferring bread to wire racks for complete cooling.
