Homemade Apple Pie Recipe

Today we will prepare a delicious homemade apple pie; in this case, we will make a sweet shortcrust pastry that we will fill with a mixture of apple, lemon, and cinnamon. The result will be an exquisite dessert that everyone will want to try.

Ingredients to make homemade apple pie:

  • 900 grams of Apple2 tablespoons of wheat flour
  • 115 grams of sugar
  • 1½ tablespoons of lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon of Allspice
  • ¼ teaspoon Ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 55 grams of butter

For the crust:

  • 285 grams of wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 85 grams of cold butter
  • 55 grams of cold butter or margarine
  • Ice water (between 65-125 ml)

How to make homemade apple pie:

The first step will be to prepare the crust or dough for our apple pie. To do this, you must sift the flour and salt in a salad bowl. Next, add the butter and the butter in squares and knead with your fingers until you obtain a dough with a consistency similar to crumbs.

Stir and add enough water to bind the dough well. When you have it, form two balls with the dough, wrap them in cling film, and refrigerate for about 20 minutes.

After this time, sprinkle a little flour on a flat work surface and roll out one of the dough balls with a rolling pin. Cover the bottom of a pie dish with this dough and trim the excess.

The mold we have used in this apple pie recipe is 23 cm in diameter.

Now we are going to prepare the apple filling. To do this, cut the apples into pieces. Separately, make a mixture of flour, sugar, lemon juice, spices, and salt.

Preheat the oven to 220 º C.

Tip: Instead of using baking apples, you can use sweet dessert apples which, if firm, do not soften as much during the baking process.

Spread the apples and the mixture on the tart base, place the butter cut into cubes, and spread over the surface.

Roll out the other ball of dough and use it as a lid for the tart. Trim off the excess, leaving about 2 cm hanging over the edge. Then, insert this pendant under the base and seal both edges by pinching the dough.

Tip: With the leftover dough, you can make shapes and figures to decorate the surface of the apple pie.

Prick the surface of the tart with a fork so that some holes are made for the tart to breathe during baking, thus preventing it from bulging or deforming.

Then bake the apple pie in the oven for 10 minutes. Reduce the temperature to 180 º C and continue until the dough is golden brown. The total time is about 40-45 minutes.

Tip: If the tart browns too quickly, you can protect it by covering it with aluminum foil.
