There are chocolate brownies and vanilla brownies, but I don’t think you’ve heard of the magnificent lemon brownies. I am very sure you will love this recipe.

Brownies are small cakes typical of American cuisine (commonly made with chocolate). Sometimes the brownie is covered with peanut butter and some kind of syrup (like maple or apple). Cheer up and make them.

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3/ 4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For the glaze

  • 4 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  1. Preheat oven to 176°C and grease a 20×20 cm baking pan with butter. Separately in a medium bowl, whisk the flour, sugar, salt, and butter at room temperature until blended. In another bowl mix the eggs, zest and lemon juice until well combined.
  2. Once this is done, pour the mixture into the flour combination and beat (with a mixer) for 2 minutes at medium speed until smooth and creamy. Then, pour the contents into the baking dish and bake for 20 to 22 minutes or until golden brown around the edges. Remove from oven and let cool completely.

For the glaze

  1. Sift the powdered sugar and whisk with the lemon zest and juice, spread half of the icing over the brownies with a rubber spatula, let stand, cut into squares and serve.
