These delicious squares are perfect for any occasion!
Ingredients:
For about twenty squares, you will need:
- 1 3/4 cup of flour
- 1/4 cup of sugar
- 3/4 cup of butter and half salt
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup of honey
- 1/4 cup of sugar
- 2 tbsp. flour
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1 tsp. coffee of natural vanilla extract
- 150 g of pecan nuts
Preparation:
- Pour the flour into a bowl, add the sugar.
- Add the diced butter. Fold in the butter with your fingertips until the mixture is smooth.
- Pour the dough into an oiled square pan. Press it gently with your fingers to spread it evenly.
- Bake for about 15 minutes at 165°C. The dough should remain golden. It really shouldn’t cook too long.
Prepare the filling:
- In a bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar.
- Add the flour and mix.
- Add the honey, salt, and vanilla. Stir to combine.
- Pour into the pan over the baked batter.
- Sprinkle the pecans over the filling.
- Bake in a 165° C oven for about 20 minutes. The filling should be set and golden brown.
- Let cool to room temperature and cut into squares. They keep very well in an airtight box.
