Preparation time: 40 minutes
Cooking time: 1 hour minimum
Ingredients for 4 Serving:
- 700 g of ground steak
- 2 onions
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 2 large cans of peeled tomatoes
- 2 large cans of red beans (already cooked)
- 1 red bell pepper
- 1 green bell pepper
- 1 tbsp cumin powder
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 1 tsp cinnamon powder
- 2 pinches oregano
- 1/2 to 1 tsp of hot cayenne pepper
- optional: a few drops of Tabasco
- 2 tbsp oil
- salt and freshly ground pepper
Start by peeling garlic and onions.
Finely chop the onions and mince the garlic. Keep them separate.
Fry the garlic in your largest pot of oil over moderate heat so as not to burn it.
Add the ground meat when the garlic begins to color.
Then add the chopped onion. Stir and cook.
Meanwhile, dice the peppers, taking care to remove all the seeds. Add them to the meat and mix again.
Now add the peeled tomatoes cut into pieces, their juice, and half a can of water. Stir.
Drain and add the red beans.
Add all the spices: cinnamon, paprika, chili, oregano,… It already smells great! – When cooking, taste and don’t hesitate to add a bit of one spice or another according to your taste. Add salt and pepper.
Now let this dish simmer for at least an hour on moderate heat, stirring from time to time to prevent the bottom from sticking. (I left it on the stove for 3 hours).
The longer you leave it on, the better your Wendy’s Chili will be,
… and reheated the next day, it’s great!
And to accompany this delicious specialty, I recommend you simply white rice, some potatoes with a little fresh cream on top, and, why not, tacos. It is a delight.
And now, warm up quickly, relax and above all, enjoy!
