Ingredients
  

For the Shortbread Crust:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour spooned and leveled
  • 1 cup 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup packed light brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt

For the Caramel Layer:

  • 1 cup 2 sticks unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup light corn syrup
  • 1 can 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Topping:

  • cups chopped pecans toasted if desired
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the crust and bake for 15 minutes.
  • Make caramel on the stovetop until thick and golden.
  • Pour caramel over crust, top with pecans, and bake again for 10–12 minutes.
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips, let melt, and spread evenly.
  • Cool completely, then cut into bars and serve.
